Tulsa, Okla. – Dustin Resz, LF’s Senior Manager of Operations Support, took on the world’s top axe and knife throwers at the World Axe Throwing League’s World Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 18-21. The competition field was intense with nearly 400 throwers across four disciplines.
Dustin entered the competition circuit in 2021, gradually gaining confidence and expertise through exposure to an expanding set of venues, competitions and leagues. His dedication paid off when he secured a spot in the 2022 World Championship through a last-chance regional tournament and a round of qualifying throws. He went 2-2 in both disciplines in that event.
In 2023, Dustin achieved his goal of receiving bids in every discipline he competes in, thanks to his consistent performance in tournaments and leagues. He credits his competitors in the Tulsa community for inspiring him to continually elevate his skill level.
“Training requires a lot of repetition and it’s the friendly competition that makes it fun, challenging and fulfilling,” said Dustin. “I couldn’t have reached this level without my fellow throwers as well as all the support from my wife Stephanie who is an awesome mother to our two-year-old daughter Ella. She is my rock and holds down the fort while I compete.”
Dustin’s strongest event in this year’s Championship was Big Axe, in which he placed 13th of 128 elite throwers. He placed 25th in Knives, 49th in Duals and 129th out of 256 in Hatchet.
LF proudly supports Dustin as his sponsor. His fully remote position, coupled with LF’s benefits package, allows him the flexibility to pursue his passion by juggling his work commitments to also invest time into target practice and tournament travel.
